Terms of Use

The short version: Gigspend is a one-time-purchase app with no subscription. It helps you scan and organize receipts and estimate deductions — it doesn't give tax, legal, or financial advice. Purchases go through Apple/Google and are covered by their refund policies, not ours.

Who this agreement is with

These terms are between you and Pay By Cents LLC ("we," "us"), based in San Jose, California, the maker of the Gigspend mobile app. By downloading, installing, or using Gigspend, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Children's Use

Gigspend is available to users of all ages. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should review these Terms with a parent or legal guardian before purchasing or using paid features.

There's no account — your device is your identity

Gigspend has no sign-up, login, name, or email tied to your use of the app. Your install is identified by a device identifier your phone's operating system provides. Free-tier limits, unlock status, and AI Assist credits are all tracked against that identifier. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what that means for your data.

Purchases

One-time unlock — Gigspend is free to try with up to 10 receipts and 10 mileage entries. A single one-time purchase (currently $4.99, subject to change) removes those limits. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
AI Assist credits — AI Assist (AI-powered receipt reading) is a separately metered credit pool, funded by welcome credits and referral rewards. Standard scanning always remains available at no cost, with or without credits.
Reconciliation credits — the optional Reconciliation feature (checking a batch of receipts for likely duplicates, unusual amounts, or mileage log inconsistencies) also draws from a metered AI credit pool. It only runs when you choose to use it on a batch of receipts you select.
All purchases are processed by Apple or Google, through the App Store or Google Play, using the payment method on file with your Apple/Google account. We never see or store your payment details.
Refunds are governed entirely by Apple's and Google's own refund policies, since they process the transaction. We can't issue refunds directly — request one through the App Store or Google Play. If a refund is granted, your unlock and any credits tied to that purchase are reversed.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Attempt to bypass, spoof, or defeat device attestation (Play Integrity / DeviceCheck) or free-tier/credit limits
Use automated tools, scripts, or scraped/fabricated data to interact with our servers instead of the genuine app
Abuse the referral system to generate rewards without genuine installs or purchases
Reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app beyond what's permitted by law
Use the app for any unlawful purpose

We may suspend or block a device's access (revoking session tokens, disabling unlock/credits) if we reasonably believe these terms have been violated, including after a purchase refund or chargeback.

No professional advice

Gigspend estimates potential tax deductions and categorizes expenses using automated rules and AI. Potential deductions are estimates only and not tax advice. Consult a tax professional to confirm deductibility. The same applies to any category, merchant, or total the app or AI Assist extracts or suggests, and to any duplicate, anomaly, or mileage-log finding Reconciliation surfaces — these are automated suggestions, not verified facts. Always review your data before relying on it for tax filing, reimbursement, or any other purpose. Gigspend is not a substitute for a licensed accountant, tax preparer, or attorney.

Mileage Tracker

The Mileage Tracker is a recordkeeping aid, not an automatic or certified mileage log. It does not continuously track routes or calculate trip distance from GPS. You are responsible for entering and reviewing mileage, odometer readings, dates, vehicle information, trip type, business purpose, and destination. If you choose the location button, Gigspend uses a single foreground location request and the device platform’s geocoding service to suggest an area and city; you can type the destination instead. Location and geocoding results may be unavailable, incomplete, or inaccurate. You are responsible for determining whether a trip and its documentation satisfy tax, reimbursement, insurance, employer, or other requirements.

Search

Search runs locally against the information stored in the app and may save a short recent-search list on your device. Search results and suggestions depend on the terms you enter and the completeness and accuracy of your local records. A missing result does not establish that a receipt or mileage entry does not exist. Search is an organizational aid and is not an audit, record-retention guarantee, or substitute for reviewing your source documents and exports.

Your content

Your receipts, photos, mileage entries, Notes, and exported reports are yours. They're stored locally on your device (see the Privacy Policy for what, if anything, leaves your device for a given feature). We don't claim ownership over your receipt or mileage data.

Third-party services

Gigspend relies on Google (currently Gemini, for AI Assist, automatic OCR help, and Reconciliation — we may also use providers like OpenAI or xAI/Grok, and may change or add providers over time), Apple/Google (for device attestation and purchase verification), and the applicable device-platform location and geocoding services when you use the optional mileage destination lookup. Your use of Gigspend is also subject to Apple's and Google's own terms for their respective app stores and services. We aren't responsible for outages, errors, or policy changes on their end.

Disclaimer of warranties

Gigspend is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that OCR, AI extraction, merchant categorization, Search results, mileage calculations or location suggestions, Reconciliation findings, or deduction estimates will be accurate, complete, or error-free, or that the app will be uninterrupted or bug-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pay By Cents LLC won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Gigspend, including inaccurate deduction estimates, lost data, or missed tax filings. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $1 if you haven't purchased anything).

Changes to the app and these terms

We may update Gigspend and these terms over time. If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
